The position of a PHA Trainer carries an important responsibility in ensuring the overall safety of human lives, assets, environment, and the reputation of the company. In my position as trainer, It is incumbent upon me to motivate the candidates and make them realize the critical role of PHA studies in the context of the industrial accidents that have, and continue to plague our industry.
I truly believe that a well trained and motivated Engineer will no doubt be able to identify hazard scenarios and ”see through” any loop holes in the defense of the mechanism of the process plant.
In my position as a PHA/HAZOP facilitator, I have led diverse range of Process Hazard Reviews (PHR’s) for Hydrocarbon (Oil & Gas), Petroleum Refining, Petrochemicals, Chemicals and allied industries. over the years. I have undertaken several SIL studies using the LOPA method and risk graph methods, SIL Verification studies etc. I have been called upon to function as a HAZOP/LOPA/SIL Chairman on several key projects; both in India and internationally.
I have also been undergone formal training courses at IFP-Training, IChemE, TUV-SUD and EXIDA on various aspects of Hazard and Operability Studies (HAZOP) and Functional Safety.
I have developed a proprietary software SILPro® for HAZOP and LOPA studies with advanced capabilities such as; automatic transfer of high-risk hazard scenarios etc.
